Indonesia Weather in March 2023
The growth of clouds in the Indonesian region in March was quite good for Indonesia weather in this March, seen from the SOI index of (+10.7). Kelvin Atmospheric wave activity, waves that play an important role in tidal movement, the adjustment of tropical seas to wind pressure, and also in generating and maintaining Enso is predicted to be active in parts of East Nusa Tenggara, the Maluku Islands, central Sumatra to the south, and parts of West Kalimantan. Meanwhile, the Equator Rossby wave is also predicted to be active in parts of Kalimantan Island. Thus, these factors support the potential for rain cloud growth in parts of Indonesia.
Low Pressure
The center of low pressure is in northern Australia which induces a low level jet area which is an anomalous phenomenon of strong winds around the troposphere. The area starts from NTT to northern Australia and forms convergence and confluence areas in northern Australia. The center of low pressure is also in the South China Sea and forms a convergence and confluence area from West Kalimantan to the South China Sea. These conditions can increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the center of low pressure/cyclonic circulation, low level jets and along the convergence/confluence areas.
Global Predictions
Based on predictions of global, regional, and probabilistic models, it is predicted that the potential for moderate to heavy intensity rain will be in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Kep. Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Kep. Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, NTB, NTT, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
Conclusion
Overall, in March 2023 there will be a significant increase in rain intensity caused by a significant flaw of cold air masses from Asia. Some areas with the potential for heavy rains during this period include most of northern and southern Sumatra, western and southern Java, western and central Kalimantan, southern Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua. The potential for rain tends to occur during the day and night and early in the morning. It is important to stay informed and take the necessary precautions during a potential severe weather event. This information will be useful for the shipping world. For sailors, this information can at least describe the weather that occurred during March. Bad weather can affect the sailing process due to unstable high waves. However, on the other hand, cruises can also be carried out by looking at weekly weather updates.
